Fupi Films, the name "Fupi" is a Swahili word which directly translates to "short" in the English language. Swahili originated as a lingua franca used by several closely related Bantu-speaking tribal groups. This had a lot of influence in the creation of this production company as the founder is of the Bantu people. Fupi Films is a well rounded film production company. Founded in the imagination of a young South African black  woman who wanted to liberate all the stories that lived in her head and amongst her youth. Fupi Films explores the likes of experimental, low-budget, queer, women empowerment and youth driven content. We are concise in the type of audience we want to attract and will not break outside that barrier. This does not limit us, but it provides you with an accurate representation of who we are and what collaborations we are open to considering. We are based in heart of KwaZulu-Natal in the beautiful city of Durban. We believe in making stories that not only touch your heart but stories that take you on a journey to realms you only dreamt of entering.
